Members of the Municipal Police Officers Retirement System (M.P.O.R.S.) enjoy a 20 year retirement regardless of age. The Legislature passed the 20 yr. retirement in 1991 thanks to the lobbying efforts of the M.P.P.A. Members of M.P.O.R.S. receive credit at 2.5% per year of service for each year they work with no cap on benefits. Members are vested after 5 years. The statute covering M.P.O.R.S. is Title 19 Chapter 9 Parts 1-12.
